Family history is involved in this vivid mask as Andy and his family from both sides are traditionally from the Namgis band of the Kwakiutl peoples which dance this mask. His artistry an historical vision are abundantly evident in this understated masterpiece.

Andy Haddon Bruce
Born July 11th, 1970 at a small remote fishing village of Alert Bay, BC. Andy's lineage is of the famous Hunt/Cook family. In fact Andy's great, great grandfather George Hunt worked closely with the famous anthropologist Franz Boaz. A member of Kwakuitl nation, Namgis Band, he is presently living and carving full time in Vancouver, BC. He apprenticed with Jimmy Joseph and has continued in the rich tradition of his famous family which has carved in honour for many generations.
